Outpatient Drug Free Services (ODF)

Outpatient Drug Free treatment services are designed to help individuals overcome their addictions to drugs and alcohol and improve the quality of their lives by addressing other areas of concern.

Outpatient drug-free (ODF) treatment includes the following services:

  • Orientation
  • Assessment
  • Counseling
    • Individual counseling
    • Group counseling
  • Monthly Progress Reports
  • Care Coordination
  • Family Therapy
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Discharge

Orientation

Orientation orients the client to the rules and expectations of the program as well as provides information regarding grievance procedures.   

Assessment

Clients are provided an assessment using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) screening tool to determine medical necessity for treatment. The ASAM addresses six dimensions, and the results of the ASAM will indicate the level of care the client should be placed in. STEPS offers Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient services. Outpatient treatment services 1.0 level of care consists of less than 9 hours a week in services. Intensive outpatient treatment services 2.1 level of care consists of 9 to as many hours of services as medically necessary per week. During the assessment, the clinician will complete the required forms, such as the Diagnostic form and required Release of Information and develop the Problem List with the client. If needed, referrals for MAT services are offered during the assessment process.

Counseling

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING 
Individual counseling consists of face-to-face, telehealth, or phone contact between the client and the therapist or SUD counselor. During the individual counseling session, required releases of information are obtained, the problem list is reviewed, and progress is documented, drug testing is administered, compliance with treatment requirements is monitored and EBP’s are applied to assist the client where needed.   

GROUP COUNSELING 
The ODF program uses Evidence Based curriculum. The Matrix Model- Relapse Prevention and Early Recovery Skills, Living in Balance, and Seeking Safety curriculum is provided to help individuals the gain skills needed to live a substance free lifestyle. Each group is 90 mins in length.

Monthly Progress Reports

SUD Counselors and Therapists complete and submit monthly progress reports to the referring agency by the 10th of each month.

Care Coordination

During treatment, clients are linked with resources in the community that will assist them in resolving their problems on their problem list and achieving their goals.

Family Therapy

Sometimes it is beneficial to offer family therapy to those individuals who are working on repairing relationships with others. This service is provided by one of our licensed therapists here at STEPS.

Crisis Intervention

Crisis intervention is available to clients if they are struggling and need extra support.

Discharge

Once a client has completed the requirements for a successful completion from treatment, they will meet with a therapist for a reassessment for discharge and then follow up with their primary counselor to complete the discharge process. Clients’ will complete treatment with a Recovery Rock, a STEPS-ODF Medallion, and a Completion Certificate.
